The search for a new superintendent

On February 20th, our School Board officially started the process to find a new superintendent for GCISD. The process started with the selection of the search firm that will assist us in finding the candidates to be considered. After the search firm is selected, the process moves to the development of the profile for the position.

There are many important characteristics the superintendent for GCISD should have. I believe it all starts with strong leadership, but there are others traits we need to have. A strong communicator and motivator, high ethical and moral standards, strong focus on college readiness, curriculum and instruction background and fiscal responsibility are also highly important when considering candidates.

I would like to hear from you! Please feel free to post your comments on what kind of superintendent you would like to see leading GCISD.

  1. Please stay clear of the NW ISD, also , the person who is chosen should not only have a passion for helping the students with disabilities in the district, but track record of making it happen. Can you imagine the success of the children with the disabilities if they had the same support, funding, and focus as the football program?

  2. Thanks for your feedback! I believe GCISD is very sensitive to the needs of students with disabilities. However, if you feel there are areas where we could improve, please let us know.

  3. What is the time frame for finding Dr. Waggoner's replacement? Hopefully the soon to be newly elected board member(s) will be part of the approval process. A strong Superintendent and CFO are critical to the future success of GCISD and the best use of tax payer money. Hopefully the search firm has a good record of find such talent.
